Emilia joined Liberty Law in June of 2026 and is currently completing her articles with the firm. Originally from Saskatoon, Emilia moved to Edmonton in 2018 to pursue post-secondary.
Emilia completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from the University of Alberta in 2022. She then went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alberta in 2026. In her third year of law school, Emilia received the Barry Sjolie QC award in Administrative Law.
Throughout law school Emilia was heavily involved with Student Legal Services (SLS), a student-run legal clinic that provides representation to Edmonton’s low-income community. First working as a volunteer, and then a full-time caseworker in the summers, Emilia gained invaluable experience for a career in criminal defence. She had the opportunity to run multiple trials on summary conviction offences in the Alberta Court of Justice prior to graduating law school. In her work at SLS, she became familiar with conducting sentencings, making Charter applications, and facilitating restorative justice measures.
In the past, Emilia has volunteered with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta, helping individuals procure criminal record suspensions. Emilia understands the stigma and barriers associated with having a criminal record.
Emilia is excited to begin her career at Liberty Law, advocating for others and their rights.
